If you hire a private investigator to obtain court evidence for you I can't stress enough the importance of checking the credentials of the person you are thinking about hiring. There is a difference between a certified private investigator and a licensed one. A certified private investigator may only work under a licensed private investigator. The licensed private investigator may have its own company and work for him or herself. If the investigation is not conducted by a certified investigator working for a licensed company or the investigation is not conducted by a licensed investigator then it makes the investigation illegal and any evidenced obtained will not hold in court.
That would be an awful feeling to spend thousands of hard earned money on someone who claimed to be certified or licensed and show up at court to only have the opposing attorney attack the investigators credentials and all of your court evidence is thrown out and you risk the chance of losing your case. Just do your homework!
Here is a recent post I came across on the PInow.com website. Its crazy that this person who called himself a private investigator worked for so long without ever being caught and it was for the city at that!
